Optum is the mental health network behind UnitedHealthcare and its sister plans. If your card says UnitedHealthcare, Oxford, Oscar, UHC StudentResources, or NYCE PPO, you are covered here for your plan's copay, billed through Headway.
Oxford is UnitedHealthcare's New York plan, common at small businesses, agencies, law firms, nonprofits, and on the NY State of Health marketplace. Oscar sells individual plans on the marketplace and some employer plans. UHC StudentResources is the student plan at SUNY campuses, Stony Brook, Hofstra, Adelphi, and others. And since January 2026, the NYC Employee PPO covers most active city employees, with mental health run by Optum.
We do not accept Optum Medicare Advantage plans. For everything else on this page, we check your benefits before the first session so you know your cost.
Plans we accept through Optum:
One network, five plan names. If Optum is behind your card, we are in-network.
Optum plans are seen by Tina Liu, LMHC-D, for clients located in New York or Florida. If her calendar is full, we will let you know the next opening and, if you would rather not wait, offer our sliding scale with Laila Siddiqui, MHC-I, for clients in New York.
Open Tina's Headway profile, pick a time, and enter your insurance details. Headway checks your coverage and shows an estimate of what you will pay per session before you confirm. Booking takes about five minutes.
If you were on GHI CBP, you moved to the NYC Employee PPO on January 1, 2026, and its mental health benefit now runs through Optum. We have written a page for teachers, DC 37 members, CUNY staff, and other city employees.
The full rate is $200 per 50-minute session, and we provide a superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. If cost is the barrier, ask about our sliding scale.
Is Oxford the same as UnitedHealthcare?
Oxford is UnitedHealthcare's New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut plan, and its mental health benefit runs through Optum, the same network as UnitedHealthcare. Oxford Freedom, Liberty, and Metro plans are all accepted here.
I'm a New York City employee on the NYCE PPO. Am I covered?
Yes. The NYC Employee PPO's mental health benefit is administered by Optum, and we are in-network with Optum in New York. If you are on HIP HMO instead, your plan is different; feel free to text us a photo of your card, and we will check.
Do you take Oscar plans from NY State of Health?
Yes. Oscar's mental health benefit runs through Optum, and we accept Oscar in New York and Florida, including marketplace plans. You pay your plan's copay per session.
