Therapists who take Oxford

If your card says Oxford, you can see us for your plan's copay. Freedom, Liberty, and Metro plans all run mental health through Optum, and we are in-network with Optum.

Oxford is a common plan at New York small businesses, agencies, law firms, and nonprofits, and on the marketplace. Its mental health benefit runs through Optum, so an Oxford card works here the same way a UnitedHealthcare card does.

Oxford comes in three main network sizes. Freedom is the broadest, Liberty is narrower, and Metro is the smallest and sold on the NY State of Health marketplace. For outpatient therapy they all use Optum's behavioral health network, so the product name on your card matters less than you might expect.

What does differ is cost sharing: a copay on some plans, a deductible then coinsurance on others. Headway shows your estimate before you confirm, or you can text us a photo of your card and we will check.

What a session costs with Oxford

  • Your plan's copay for outpatient therapy, or the contracted rate until your deductible is met
  • No referral for in-network therapy on Oxford PPO and EPO plans; we confirm for HMO plans
  • Your estimate appears on Headway before you book
  • Full self-pay rate if out of network: $200, with a superbill
  • Free benefits check: text us a photo of your card

Oxford plans are seen by Tina Liu, LMHC-D, for clients located in New York. If her calendar is full, we will let you know the next opening or offer our sliding scale with Laila Siddiqui, MHC-I, for clients in New York.

How to book

Open Tina's Headway profile, pick a time, and enter your insurance details. Headway checks your coverage and shows an estimate of what you will pay per session before you confirm. Booking takes about five minutes.

If your plan turns out to be out of network

The full rate is $200 per 50-minute session, and we provide a superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. If cost is the barrier, ask about our sliding scale.

Questions before you start?

Do you take Oxford Metro?

Yes. Oxford Metro's mental health benefit runs through Optum, the same network as Freedom and Liberty, and we are in-network with Optum in New York.

My small company's plan is Oxford. Does my employer see my therapy claims?

No. Claims go to Oxford and are processed under federal privacy law. Your employer receives no record of your visits or diagnoses.

Is Oxford accepted in Florida too?

Oxford itself is a New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut plan. If you are an Oxford member located in Florida at the time of a session, we are in-network with Optum there as well, and we will confirm your plan's out-of-area rules.
